Straight Ahead Colorado has a vision for Community-Based Aftercare that includes matching mentors to young men and women currently incarcerated. Along with key volunteers, they actively participate in parole planning meetings, and offer resources to prepare youth for their transition to their communities.
Each week, dozens of youth attend Bible Studies in juvenile detention centers in Colorado, led by trained volunteers. We also provide Special Programs through the year. Each Bible study team is assigned a Prayer Team.
We match adult volunteers with youth to Mentor. Also, Straight Ahead Colorado provides Camp Experiences for youth currently incarcerated in juvenile detention centers.
Bible Studies
We recruit, screen and train adult volunteers to serve on Bible Study teams. Whether you want to be a Bible study leader, or support person on a Bible study team, we have a place for you! We offer specialized orientation classes, and on-going training for all of our volunteers. We equip you with materials to be effective in your ministry to these youth. We have a number of openings for new volunteers in several juvenile detention centers.
Special Programs
Straight Ahead Colorado offers a variety of programs throughout the year. Some of the special programs are Christmas For Every Child, Christmas and Easter Programs, and Concerts. Providing camp opportunities is a large part of how we begin relationships with these kids.
Prayer Teams
You can be a part of a prayer team that prays specifically for the Bible study leaders, its youth participants, and the juvenile facility.
